We are a non-political voluntary organisation helping sponsor the care of Orphans and assisting in making improvements to healthcare and education in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
BKCF was founded in 2014 by a group of like-minded British Kashmiris from J&K. Our first project focused on sending immediate aid to victims of the 2014 floods and assisting in the reconstruction and repair of homes.
We are currently in liaison with CHINAR, a well established charity that sponsors the long-term care and education of orphans in Kashmir. Through this liaison we currently sponsor a number of orphans. Our aims are to increase our orphan sponsorship programme through the BKCF orphans fund that we are currently fundraising for.
Through our liaison with Hospitals and cancer clinics in Kashmir we provided financial aid to cancer patients in the valley who require life saving drugs and treatment they cannot afford. The BKCF cancer fund successfully provided resources to several such patients in 2017 and facilitated funding the life-saving bone marrow transplants outside the state.
We identified need for care of educationally challenged and rehabilitation of physically less able people in the valley. BKCF decided to support care of these children and adults via Voluntary Medicare Society in Srinager. BKCF is in process of extending this service to far flung districts where non such service is in place.
BKCF is assisting further education of a number of underprivileged young people in the valley by providing financial support.
